Reflection for September
A pastoral reflection for the fall season as ministries resume at Grace Episcopal Church.
Summer is coming to an end with most people returning home to begin their fall activities. The church is no exception. Now that our summer programs have concluded, all ministries will be fully engaged.
This time of year, we look forward to celebrating with new people seeking a spiritual home. It is my hope that all our parishioners will extend their customary welcome into our parish.
As a church with a diverse background, our worship and other events will reflect God's gift of creation. Our time of worship and social interaction will include Back to Church Sunday, Hispanic Heritage Month, Harvest Thanksgiving, International Day, and will culminate with the Incarnation of our Lord at Christmas.
Our Bible study will resume in September. Preparation for Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation classes will begin in November.
Let me encourage you with these words from Henri Nouwen: 'Living a spiritual life makes our little, fearful hearts as wide as the universe, because the spirit of Jesus dwelling within us embraces the whole of creation.'
Pray that the love of Jesus will lead us in our various ministries.
